Hong Kong Cruises - Holiday Destination

Hong Kong is an unavoidable destination for anyone taking a cruise holiday to Asia.

It is positioned centrally on the cruise map of Asia and acts as a gateway to other cruise destinations in China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

Situated at the tip of China, Hong Kong has a sub tropical climate with November and December being great months to travel as during this time there is usually plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures.

January and February are cloudy, colder months while March and April although pleasant can be humid and foggy, while between July and September, Hong Kong is host to tropical cyclones.

With a complex history of Chinese and British rule, Hong Kong is steeped in history and there are many places that should be seen on a Hong Kong cruise. Kowloon and the New Territories in particular will provide travellers with the chance to enjoy hiking, horse racing and sailing activities.

For culture, in the New Territories visit places like Tai Fu Tai and Fan Tin Village - a stately home built in 1865 by a scholar of the Man clan. The Sam Tung UK Museum, a walled village that is completely walled in by rows of houses, is also worth a visit.

Lantau Island is another popular port on Hong Kong cruises, with the Po Lin monastery a popular attraction, thanks to its huge seated bronze Buddha. Tours of the monastery are available for those willing to walk the 268 steps up to it.

A visit to Macau is also a must on a Hong Kong cruise. This former colony features a selection of Baroque churches, temples, museums and is also home to the ruins of the St. Paul Cathedral.
