British Isles Cruises - Holiday Destination

Big Ben

A cruise around the British Isles is perhaps the best way to see the major sights and cities of Britain and Ireland, transporting passengers around the coastlines of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales in comfort and style. Unlike many other destinations for cruising, the relative compactness of the British Isles means that the time actually spent on-board between stops never exceeds a couple of days, leaving guests free to explore the culture, monuments, history and entertainments Britain and Ireland have to offer.

London is truly a global capital and, as a result, features on virtually every single British Isles cruise itinerary. Passengers can take a tour of the great sights such as the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral and the Houses of Parliament, or simply take a tube ride to Soho or Covent Garden to experience the capital's wonderful selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Edinburgh and Glasgow are two of the main stops in Scotland on a British Isles cruise. The awe-inspiring Edinburgh Castle and the crown jewels it holds, the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Old Town are all sights of Scotland's capital all visitors to the city should see. But both cities boast an architectural grandeur that makes them both a pleasure simply to stroll around and explore.

Less trodden ground covered on many British Isles cruises include the Orkney and Shetland Islands of Scotland's north coast, as well as the Channel Islands, with their peculiarly old-English ambience located just off the French coast.

In Ireland, Dublin is almost always the first port of call, but many cruises also call in at Cobh, the Titanic's last stop before its fateful journey and the embarkation point for millions of Irish people who emigrated to the US in the 19th century.

So for wonderful holiday experience combining the bustle and excitement of the Britain and Ireland's major cities with some largely undiscovered gems, a British Isles cruise fits the bill.
