Work Continues On Costa Deliziosa
Friday, July 11th, 2008
The keel has been laid for Costa Deliziosa, currently being constructed at an Italian shipyard.
TravelMole reports that the move is a key step in the ships preparation ahead of entering into service in 2010.
One of five new ships announced by the cruise line to be built ahead of 2012, like her sister ships the Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica, Costa Deliziosa is being constructed by Fincantieri.
The cost of the construction of the new flotilla is reported by Costa Cruises to total €2.4 billion.
Costa Cruises recently floated out Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica, both of which are estimated to debut in June 2009, a year ahead of sister ship Costa Deliziosa.
Plans to finish the interior fittings and decorations of Costa Luminosa are estimated for April 2009 and May 2009 for Costa Pacifica.
"This simultaneous launch is … a milestone in the expansion of our fleet, which will have 17 ships by 2012," Costa Cruises group chairman Pier Luigi Foschi said recently.
