Monday, May 12th, 2008
Australian fun-seekers are increasingly taking advantage of cruises around Europe, according to figures from the International Cruise Council Australasia (ICCA).
The Sydney Morning Herald explained that not only are more Australians are choosing a cruise for their holiday, 67 per cent more headed for Europe compared to the previous year.
Previous destinations around Asia and Alaska are experiencing a decline in popularity, while the ICCA has explained increased capacities and longer cruising seasons in the Mediterranean have caused the improved interest in European cruising.
Speaking about the changing face of cruises, president of the Norwegian Cruise Line Colin Veitch commented on the new designs of ships which could also attract a new generation to the seas.
Mr Veitch explained: "Gone are the regimented designs and in place are sleek staterooms that are totally outside the box."
The International Cruise Council of Australasia is a dedicated body to the promotion and improvement for cruising around the world.
