Cruises Unaffected By Hurricane
Thursday, July 10th, 2008
Cruises schedules are not being affected by the first twister of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, one commentator has claimed.
According to USA Today, Hurricane Bertha has failed to reach the outer Caribbean islands and Bermuda, a popular port of call for cruise ships on Caribbean tours.
The National Hurricane Centre recently measured the first hurricane of the season’s winds at 120 miles per hour.
It was classified as a Category 3 storm and is now expected to weaken.
One commentator however expressed concern that Caribbean Princess could find her itinerary affected by some wind from the hurricane.
However, another reader responded that the news was "excellent … for everyone who may have been in Bertha’s path–both island dwellers and cruisers".
"It is still too early to determine the extent to which Bertha could impact Bermuda. Interests on that island should closely monitor the progress of Bertha during the next several days," the National Hurricane Centre advises, according to the AFP.
