Guests and staff from Virgin Holidays Cruises celebrated at the launch of Carnival Splendor today. The Splendor is Carnival’s latest addition to their fleet of 'Fun Ships'.
Godmother Myleene Klass - famed for her musical talents - officially named her with the help of a Royal Navy diver, who shimmied up a 60ft rope to break a bottle of English sparkling wine against the hull of the ship.
In true Carnival style, the smashing of the bottle was accompanied by fireworks, streamers and cheers from the VIPs and guests sailing on her maiden voyage.
Carnival Splendor is filled with bars, restaurants, theatre, pools and a full programme of activities to keep its guests entertained on their holidays. She also boasts the best spa in the Carnival fleet, with dedicated spa cabins. Kids of all ages will be kept well amused in one of the three children’s club on-board.
The Carnival Splendor’s first cruise takes her 3,006 guests to Amsterdam, before returning to Dover on Sunday. From there, she will embark on a 12-night cruise of the Baltic Capitals.
